Global technology leader Xiaomi, an internet company with smartphones and smart hardware connected by an IoT platform at its core, and NTT DOCOMO, INC., a leading telecommunications company engaged in the research and development of mobile network and service technologies, have entered into an agreement granting Xiaomi a worldwide license to NTT DOCOMO\u2019s cellular wireless standard essential patents.<\/p>\n
\u201cXiaomi recognized the value of a license to NTT DOCOMO\u2019s cellular wireless standard essential patents,\u201d said Mr. Tadanobu Ando, General Manager of Intellectual Property Department at NTT DOCOMO. \u201cXiaomi\u2019s sophisticated IP team was professional and appreciated the continued investment by NTT DOCOMO in innovation\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe NTT DOCOMO team demonstrated the value to Xiaomi of taking a license to NTT DOCOMO\u2019s cellular wireless standard essential patents on FRAND terms,\u201d said Paul Lin, Vice President of IP Strategy at Xiaomi. \u201cXiaomi is very willing to take a license to quality SEP patent portfolios on fair and reasonable terms to help continue to bring the best user experience to our customers,\u201d Mr. Lin added.<\/p>\n
